Excitement

I can't sleep. It's past 2 in the morning and I just can't sleep. I think the reason I can't fall asleep is because I'm just so happy right now. For no reason. But I'm happy, and I'm excited. I'm full of joy and I just want to yell, or dance, or cry. I'm so excited because in just a little over 1 year and 4 months, we're getting married. Of course I've been so excited to marry him since we got engaged, but for some reason I feel like I just can't contain myself tonight. I'm engaged to the most wonderful, caring, and compassionate person I know.  It's the most wonderful feeling in the world. I get to marry my best friend!

We are fiances!

This post is long overdue. Sorry.

But we're engaged!!!

On New Years Eve, Will wanted to go hiking on Squaw Peak for the sunset. My best friend Megan and her hubby Jeff were going to come along too.  When we got to the top we sat down for a while and just hung out. Right about the time the sun was setting, I told Willie that I wanted one last picture then we should start heading down before it got too dark to see. He agreed, and Megan said she would take the picture for us. Will said he wanted a picture on his camera too, he bent down and started going through his back pack to find his camera. When I looked down at him, I was trying to figure out why he was on one knee. Then I saw the beautiful ring he was holding. I was in complete shock, especially because I wasn't expecting it for another few months!  All I could do was kiss him and hug him. At one point, Jeff actually said "Are you going to put that ring on or what!"

Megan of course was in on it the entire time and took lots of pictures for us! Here are a few of them!

Me and Meggy on Squaw Peak!

At this point I was trying to figure out what the heck he was doing!

Oh you have a ring in your hand!

I'm so happy!

OF course, he brought wine :-)

My gorgeous ring that he designed himself!

So we're engaged!  I can't wait to marry my best friend!  What an awesome way to end 2009!

Who Dey!

Amanda and I became die hard Bengals fans this year. It was probably mostly my doing, seeing that I have been an underground fan for a while, but that goes to show how much Amanda loves me. Anyways, the Bengals (10-6) did become the AFC North champions for the first time in 21 years. The last time they did that they went to the Super Bowl and lost in 1989. In December I went and visited my family in Cincinnati, Ohio and picked up some Bengals gear for Amanda and I. I think they lost in the playoffs because we didn't wear our gear that day. But hey, there is always next year. Well, I figured I would at least contribute something to this new blog, so there you have it. Oh and Amanda has yet to put the most important news of December up, but I am sure it wont be long before she gets to that. :-)

2009

Last night Will and I were in the car trying to remember what we did in 2009.  We went through month by month and tried to think of everything that we did this year that made it special. As we were listing off everything we did, we decided that we needed to archive it somehow, so when we're 80 years old we can still remember.

January: We started the year off by taking our first vacation together.  We went to San Diego for almost a week. It was a perfect vacation for us to just relax and do nothing. We got a great hotel hookup through a friend of a friend at the Marriott Courtyard. We visited Seaport Village, the San Diego Zoo, Mission Beach, took a drive up the coast, and lied around a lot. A perfect way to start off the year. Will also got hired by Mormon Lake Ranger District on Engine 5-4!  His first job as  REAL firefighter!

February: In February I got sick.  Even though I got my flu shot, I still got the crud. Will spent a whole week taking care of me, only leaving my side to go to class, and still didn't get sick!  My favorite part was waking up in the middle of the night coughing so hard that it would make me gag, drooling form gagging, nose running, and crying from it all. I was disgusting. But he still sat by my side, called my mom to find out what she gives me when I get sick, and gave me lots of drugs.  He must really love me!

March: March was slow. Spring break came and went. Will went to the Arizona Wild Land Fire Academy. I was on call during spring break.  Overall, a pretty slow month.

April: In April we were getting towards the end of the semester, and pretty much did nothing exciting but school.

May: School ended in May. Will started his first summer working for Mormon Lake Ranger District. He also got sent out on his first "roll" to New Mexico. I started Orientation for the 2nd summer, and took summer classes.

June: In June, Will worked on the "Real Fire", and I continued to work for Orientation and New Student Programs, and take summer classes.

July: I spent the 4th of July with Will in Flagstaff with his family. Then I went back down to Phoenix to work at Pump It Up at house sit for the Nypen's. Will continued to work fire, but came to Phoenix a few times to visit.

August: Will went to the Kiabab National Forest for 2 weeks to work on the Miller Fire. I came back to Flagstaff to start RA training. School started towards the end of August.

September: Our 2 year anniversary was on September 2nd. We celebrated by spending Labor Day weekend in San Diego. We went to Sea World, and spent a lot of time at the beach. Will got me to play in the ocean for the first time since I was 12. We also spent a night at Sea Port Village walking around. We finally got our clam chowder in a bread bowl that we had been searching for and there were fire works over the harbor.

October: The first weekend of October we went back to San Diego for the Brad Paisley concert! We had a great time hanging out with Drew, and Brad Paisley is incredible live! On October 20th, Will threw me a surprise 21st birthday party! I still can't believe he had so many people involved and kept it a secret! My best friend Megan came up from Phoenix, and we went to the bars at midnight for my first drink!

November: Will brought me camping for the first time! I wasn't as cold or as uncomfortable as I thought I would be! Will continued to go scouting for Elk throughout the rest of November, and over Thanksgiving weekend, Will and his dad got their Elk! Also on Thanksgiving weekend was Will's 21st birthday! We were the only ones in Flagstaff because of the holiday, but still had a great a night!

December: In December we finished the semester, and Will went to Cincinnati to visit his family, and I closed Cowden for the break. We were able to spend Christmas together, and spend lots of time with family!
